Founded in 1998, and based in central Paris, Darkworks S.A. specialises in producing state-of-the-art software for computers, as well as home entertainment systems platforms like Sony Playstation or Microsoft Xbox. Darkworks is one of the top fifteen European independent game development studios with a broad international experience, having worked for top ten major publishers like Infogrames (EU), Capcom (JAP), Namco (US) and Ubisoft (EU).

Darkworks gained world-wide recognition in 2001 when it completed the 4th episode of Alone in the Dark series on PlayStation and Dreamcast. Alone in the Dark: The new Nightmare™ has sold more than 1.4 million copies worldwide and was ranked first across European charts during summer 2001. The same year Darkworks rose 3.4 million € in private equity from three French investment banks.

During fiscal years 2002 and 2003, 100% of Darkworks’ revenues came from business done with US and Japan. In 2002 the company was ranked on ninth position for the Technology Fast 50 prize awarded by Deloitte & Touche.

In March 2005 Darkworks released world-wide Cold Fear™ with Top 5 Publisher Ubisoft. The game entered the top ten UK charts and was praised with excellent reviews. Darkworks is now working on a major next-generation game and plan to grow its team from 40 to 100 developers.
